John Wooden Center Improvement Project
Today, we honor Coach Wooden's legacy by announcing a significant step forward in improving the experience for all Bruins at the John Wooden Center. Following a thorough evaluation and planning process, the building will undergo renovation to address seismic deficiencies and make improvements to the existing layout and configuration of space. These renovations are projected to be completed early in 2027.
Your patience, understanding, and feedback are invaluable as we embark on this journey. We are committed to upholding Coach Wooden's legacy, ensuring the John Wooden Center remains a place where all Bruins can thrive.
Project Highlights:
- The building will not be fully closed during the project. Instead, the planned improvements will be separated into phases to minimize disruption, with construction contained in select areas.
- To mitigate the impacts from each phase of the project, programs and services will be relocated within the John Wooden Center as well as to other Recreation facilities to ensure our community continues to have access to a variety of fitness and wellness activities.
- We are committed to providing regular updates throughout the renovation process. Please visit this page for more information as the project progresses.
Additional Planned Improvements:
- Reconfiguring the front of the building to create additional activity space
- Expanding the existing weight training spaces
- Repurposing several spaces on the first floor
- Revitalizing the exterior appearance of the building
