UCLA Students

Membership Start Dates for Incoming Fall Students

No membership registration is required for most students. All undergraduate, graduate, and professional degree students who are currently enrolled in fall quarter and pay student service fees toward Recreation will automatically obtain fall quarter membership on the following dates:

  • Undergraduate students, graduate students, and students in professional degree programs that pay the Wooden Center fee in their tuition, and are not in a self-supporting degree programs: September 9th
  • Students at the UCLA School of Law, except for students in self-supporting degree programs: August 8th
  • Med School Year 1: August 15th

The following UCLA students DO NOT pay the “Wooden Center fee” in their student service fees, and therefore need to pay the membership fee to register for a membership:

Pricing: $60/Quarter

Registration Process for UCLA students who do not pay the Wooden Center fee

1. Sign in to Recreation account

  • UCLA faculty, staff, and students: use the blue bar “click here for UCLA logon”
  • Other users: enter your credentials in the blank field “email or username”

2. Choose “|Rec Membership|”

3. Select the duration by clicking the grey “1 quarter” bar, then use the drop-down to select “Fall 2022”

4. Confirm the dates of membership and ensure the expiration is January 3, 2023.

5. Checkout

Important: If you are a current UCLA student this quarter and see Community pricing or are unable to register, please email info@recreation.ucla.edu with the following:

  • UCLA ID number
  • Screenshot of your itemized Bruin Bill showing the “Wooden Center fee”
  • Degree program

We will then email you to confirm activation so you can be eligible to purchase membership at the student rate.

UCLA Faculty & Staff

Current UCLA faculty and staff are eligible to purchase a Recreation Membership for access to JWC, KREC, Drake Stadium, Pools, SCRC Lawn, and Tennis Court access.

Pricing Options:

  • Payroll Deduction: on-going membership, $30/month*. See below for eligibility, terms, and conditions
  • $90/quarter
  • $44/1 month

Unlike payroll deduction, quarterly and monthly membership payments are not renewed automatically. You must sign up each time to renew. Online registration and online payment only. Rates are subject to change.

New hires must wait 3-5 business days from the date of hire to be eligible to purchase a membership. If you are an eligible employee and see Community rates or are unable to register, please email info@recreation.ucla.edu with your UCLA ID number to activate your Recreation account so that you can be made eligible to purchase an employee membership.

Payroll Deduction

PAYROLL DEDUCTION POLICIES:

Payroll deduction (PRD) membership must be paid upfront for the current quarter. Your payroll deductions will begin on the 1st of the following quarter. Membership rates are subject to change.

For Example: Pay upfront $90/summer quarter (prorated); Payroll Deduction begins October 1st/fall quarter

PRD ELIGIBILITY:

Payroll Deduction is a privilege for UCLA Faculty and Staff purchasing ongoing Recreation membership.

Payroll Deduction is only available for:

  1. CAREER, CONTRACT, OR ACADEMIC EMPLOYEES (or)
  2. TEMPORARY EMPLOYEES with end dates who work a minimumof 75% time

All other employees must pay for their services in full at the time of purchase. (We are unable to extend payroll deduction to ASUCLA Employees.)

ADD-ON RECREATION SERVICES: GroupX passes, BHIP, household adult membership, and locker rentals may be added following subsequent to the primary member’s enrollment and added to payroll deduction. Payroll Deduction updates/changes must be submitted via the PRD Add-On Form by the 10thof the month to be effective for the following month:

PRD CANCELLATION: Payroll Deduction is automatically renewed, will continue until you cancel. Payroll Deduction must be canceled in writing via the Cancellation Request form and timestamped by the 10th of the month to cancel your deduction for the following pay period. Employees must cancel payroll deductions prior to going on temporary leave or ending appointment with UCLA, or you will automatically receive additional charges (non-refundable) upon return to any UC location.

UCLA Alumni

UCLA Alumni are eligible to purchase Rec Membership for access to JWC, Pools, Drake Stadium, and SCRC Tennis Court access.

Important: If you are UCLA Alumni and see Community pricing or are unable to register, please email info@recreation.ucla.edu with your UCLA Recreation ID number to activate your Recreation account so you can be eligible to purchase membership at the alumni rate.

  • $180/quarter

Community

Members of the community are eligible to purchase Rec Membership for access to JWC, Pools, Drake Stadium, and SCRC Tennis Court access.

Add-On Member Services

Household Adult Memberships

Household adults can purchase a membership and get access to the same facility Bookings as the primary Recreation member. The affiliated member must have an active student membership or Recreation membership and proof of matching mailing address for their household adult to be eligible. 

Instructions for Household Adult memberships

STEP 1: Household Adult must have a Recreation Profile: https://secure.recreation.ucla.edu/

  • Returning members: “Sign In” in upper right corner

  • Brand new members must create an account

STEP 2: Primary Recreation member submits Household Adult Enrollment Request form

STEP 3: Sales staff reviews request and upon approval emails Primary and Household Adult within three business days with instructions to register

STEP 4: Household Adult signs into their account and registers for the Recreation membership online

  • Sign in to Recreation account

  • Click on “Memberships”

  • Choose “| Rec Membership |”

  • Checkout

    *Students with membership in summer must reverify their household adult to be eligible to purchase summer membership. Reverification is required again at the start of fall quarter to be eligible for the academic year.

Locker Rentals

Locker Policies

Pricing:

  • $15/quarter
  • $5/month on Payroll Deduction*

Lockers are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and are not guaranteed. An active Recreation membership is required to purchase and maintain a locker rental. The maximum locker rental duration is one quarter. 

*Please see UCLA Faculty/Staff section above for more information on enrolling in Recreation services using Payroll Deduction.

Locker Rental Request Process: 

  1. Submit Locker Rental Request Form
  2. The Sales Team will review requests in the order they were submitted within 3-5 business days. If approved, the Sales Team will assign you a locker and you will receive an email with instructions to purchase your locker ($15/quarter). 
  3. Log into your Recreation account and submit online payment within 5 business days of locker assignment or you are subject to lose your locker rental. Due to a high volume of requests, we cannot guarantee your locker after the payment deadline. 

Locker Rental Purchase Instructions:  

  1. Log in to your Recreation account 
  2. On the left column, click on “Locker Assignment” 
  3. Use the “Renew” button to purchase your locker for $15.00/quarter. Please select the correct quarter for your purchase and confirm the dates are accurate in your cart. 
  4. Proceed through the checkout process  

IMPORTANT: You will see the locker number and combination once you are in the checkout screen. This information is not printed on the receipt, and cannot be emailed to you. If you ever need to retrieve this information in person, please stop by the facility front desk with your identification and the front desk staff will assist you. 

North Pool locker rooms have not yet reopened and therefore are not available for rental at this time. 

Membership Policies & Acknowledgements

Policies & COVID-19 Acknowledgement

  • Facilities will have reduced capacities and limited hours. 

  • Facilities may also have intermittent and immediate closures due to health and cleaning requirements. 

  • Reservations may be canceled and facility closed in inclement weather, unsafe conditions and for scheduled classes. 

  • Personal water bottle recommended. Beverages must be in a spill-proof, unbreakable, re-sealable container. No spitting. 

  • Maintain personal hygiene as to not be disruptive to the environment. 

  • Standing on or leaning over rails, fences, and other equipment is prohibited. 

  • No photography or video recording unless approved by UCLA Rec management. 

  • Be respectful of all equipment, patrons and staff. 

  • Follow all staff directions, participant expectations and posted facility signage. 

Entry Policies  

  • Present current Rec Card, BruinCard, valid photo ID, or UCLA Rec smartphone app barcode for entry. 
  • Maintain 6 feet of distance from others or more as determined by facility or program.  
  • Secured storage is not available. Users are responsible for personal belongings. Do not bring valuables. UCLA Recreation is not responsible for lost or stolen items. 
  • Spaces must be used as intended. No loitering. 
  • Any participant displaying symptoms of illness may be asked to leave the facility. 
  • You may not enter the zone before your Bookings start time and you must exit the facility by your Bookings end time. 
  • Failure to comply with policies and guidelines, facility signage, and staff instruction may result in removal from a facility, a membership suspension or membership revocation.

COVID-19 Acknowledgement of Risks 

View the University’s COVID-19 Public Health Mitigation Requirements. Based on a variety of factors, including changing public health conditions, these requirements are subject to change.  Current requirements will be posted in Recreation facilities and/or shared by Recreation staff.  We ask for your full cooperation following current requirements, posted signs, and staff directions in an effort to keep the Recreation community safe.

Booking Policies  

Booking Instructions: 
1. Sign in to your Recreation Profile
2. Choose desired facility and available timeslot 

Booking Cancellations: 
1. Sign in to your Recreation Profile
2.Click on the three dots in the right corner of the booking. Select “Cancel Booking” 

Bookings open 72 hours in advance of each timeslot. Bookings are not guaranteed. 

  • Must be an eligible UCLA affiliate with an active student membership or Recreation membership to make a Booking. No guest or day passes are allowed. 
  • Bookings are required to enter certain Recreation spaces unless enrolled in a Recreation in-person program or class.   
  • Participants will be able to make a Booking starting 72 hours in advance, up until one hour prior to the Booking start time. By obtaining this membership a Booking is not guaranteed at any time. 
  • Bookings that cannot be attended must be canceled no later than 60 minutes prior to the start time. Failure to cancel your Booking may result in a membership suspension and a loss of booking privileges. 
  • In the event that UCLA Recreation cancels your Booking for any reason, you will not be issued a make-up Booking, membership extension, or any compensation.

Minimum refund request is $5. UCLA Recreation does not offer full refunds. Please see the refund policies below:

Membership & Locker Refund Policies 

Monthly Recreation memberships are non-refundable; no exceptions.  

Recreation memberships longer than one-month can be considered for a prorated refund for one of the following reasons, require documentation, and are subject to a cancellation fee of $25:   

  • Termination of employment  
  • Transfer off-campus  
  • Formal leave of absence and sabbaticals   
  • Changes in medical condition resulting in physical limitations  

Facility capacities are limited in certain facilities and areas. Availability and Bookings are not guaranteed and do not qualify for membership refunds, discounts, or extensions.  Facility and campus closures may occur as needed, and membership extensions are not offered. 

Payroll Deduction Cancellation

Payroll Deduction is perpetual and will continue until canceled. Payroll Deduction must be canceled in writing via the Cancellation Request Form and timestamped by the 10th day of the month to cancel your deduction for the following pay period. Employees must cancel payroll deductions prior to going on temporary leave or ending appointment with UCLA, or you will automatically get additional charges (non-refundable) upon return to any UC location.

Program & Class Refund Policies  

Classes and Activities Refund Policy 
No full refunds. Refund requests received by Noon (PST) 2 business days prior to the first class or meeting receive a 90% refund.  Requests received prior to the 2nd class meeting may be refunded 50%. 

Refunds are not available after the 2nd class meeting.

If a class is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances and closures, we will do our best to provide a make-up through 10th week of academic classes. No make-ups will be held in finals week and there are no refunds for any cancelled or missed classes.

Activity and Fitness Passes (GroupX In-Person, GroupX Virtual, BStrong, Martial Arts)  
There are no refunds for quarterly activity passes once the first class begins, no exceptions. On occasion, classes may be cancelled and Recreation will do their best to communicate changes to those who reserved a spot. Refunds and makeups are not available due to these cancellations or updates in class schedules. 

Marina Aquatic Center Refund Policy 
Refund requests received at least three business days prior to the first class meeting are eligible for a 90% refund or 100% transfer towards another in the same quarter. There are no refunds or transfers after the 1st class meeting. 

Fitness Class Transfer Policy 
Transfer requests for FITWELL/Instructional Program classes receive a 100% credit towards another class if used in the same quarter, space permitting. 

Personal Fitness Training and Private Instruction 
If you choose to pay for sessions in advance, a refund may be issued for unused sessions less a $25 processing fee if the request is received by UCLA Recreation within 6 months of the purchase. Sessions expire 6 months after the date of purchase. 

Summer Camps 
All refund requests must be submitted in writing and received by UCLA Recreation by the dates listed below. 

  • Refund Amount 90%, Request Must be Received Before March 31st 
  • Refund Amount 75%, Request Must be Received Before April 1st - 30th 
  • Refund Amount 50%, Request Must be Received After May 1: No later than 15 business days before the purchased session begins 
  • Refund Amount 25%, Request Must be Received Before Within 15 business days of the purchased session 
  • No refund after the first Monday of session or week. If UCLA Recreation cancels a program, a full refund will be issued. All camp transfers are subject to a $25 transfer fee per session/week. 

BHIP Continuation 
There are no refunds for BHIP Continuation paid up front per quarter or other short-term duration.
