Winter Camp 2024

(Kindergarten - 6th Grade)

Winter Camp goes on sale on November 1 at noon.

Join us for Winter Camp 2024, January 2 - 5! This in-person camp includes arts and crafts, non-competitive sports and field games, polar bear swimming (in our heated pool), science-based activities, and a Friday extended hours off-campus field trip to Disneyland. Campers must be currently enrolled in Kindergarten - 6th grade.

  • 12:15 PM - 12:45 PM Lunch
  • 12:45 PM - 3:30 PM Camp Programs
  • 3:30 PM - 4:00 PM Check Out
  • 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM Extended Care Available for Additional Fee

More information on the Friday Extended Day field trip will be provided to registered participants in the parent guide in mid-December.

Requirements for Registration 

After registering for our camp programs, all families will receive an email from UCLA Recreation via CampDoc with instructions on how to digitally submit the following required information:  

  1. A copy of current immunization records.  UCLA Recreation requires all youth participants be up-to-date with all immunizations before they can attend programs and camps. For a complete overview and further details, please review the California Department of Public Health guide for required immunizations.   
  2. Health, physician, and insurance information.   
  3. Names and phone numbers of emergency contacts (at least 2).   
  4. Names, phone numbers, and photos of individuals authorized to pick up your child (including yourself).  

Eligibility: UCLA Recreation Youth Programs are open to all including the UCLA Community and the general public.

Registration Instructions 

Registration will be open to all families on Wednesday, November 1 at noon.  

Before registering, please make sure your account is set up and your camp pricing tier is activated by following the steps below. All families including returning camp families must be reactivated to enroll in Winter Camp.

STEP 1: Make sure you have access to your account in the Recreation Webstore. UCLA students, staff, and faculty should use their Single Sign On credentials and community members can make an account using their email address. 

STEP 2: Confirm that your dependents are linked in your profile. 

STEP 3: Activate your pricing tier by emailing campregistration@recreation.ucla.edu ** 

**IMPORTANT NOTE: If your camp pricing tier is activated, you will see an error that reads ‘Active Membership Required’. DO NOT PURCHASE AN ONLINE REC MEMBERSHIP TO BYPASS THIS ERROR. Instead, email campregistration@recreation.ucla.edu and they will activate your camp membership. 

Navigating the Webstore: 

Once all 3 steps above are complete, you are ready to register! You can navigate using the below steps in the UCLA Recreation Webstore: https://secure.recreation.ucla.edu/  

  1. Sign in in the upper right-hand corner. 
  2. Click "Youth Programs" icon.  
  3. Find the desired program (sorted alphabetically), and the desired offering (sorted by session date). Click the blue “register” button. 
  4. Select the dependent to register and follow the prompts through to your shopping cart to checkout.

Camp Fees 

Fees are organized in a 3-tier system based on affiliation: 

  • Community Member: $750
  • UCLA Staff/Faculty: $640
  • Current UCLA Student: $535

A limited number of need-based scholarships are available to UCLA students, staff, and faculty. For more information and to determine your eligibility, please email youthcamps@recreation.ucla.edu. Please email as soon as possible and before registration opens. Once registration has opened, spaces may not be available.

UCLA RECREATION YOUTH AND FAMILY PROGRAMS’ PHILOSOPHY

INCLUSION  

UCLA Recreation Camps are dedicated to promoting social inclusion through shared recreational experiences inspired by the principle that learning and playing together is a path to friendship and understanding. We welcome everyone and include children with disabilities and children without disabilities in the same camp programs. We require families of campers with inclusive needs and/or those who require additional support to schedule a pre-camp meeting with our camp director and/or inclusion staff. 

For the safety of all staff and participants, programs are not designed for children who have significant non-compliant, flight, or aggressive behaviors. All campers, regardless of ability, are expected to comply with behavior expectations.  

EXPECTATIONS  

We work to maintain our inclusive environment with the support and participation of our entire camp community. All campers and their families are expected to comply with community expectations.

  • Comply with behavior expectations  
  • Participate safely in a group without risk of flight or aggression  

STAFF CERTIFICATION  

CPR/AED and First Aid by the American Red Cross.  

Standard Camp Policies 

CAMP REFUND POLICY  

The parent or guardian's purchase of the 2024 camp session indicates an understanding of all registration and refund policies and an agreement to abide by them. All refund requests must be submitted via our UCLA Recreation Cancellation form and must be received by UCLA Recreation by the dates listed below. Prorating is not available for any program.

Winter Camp 

All refund requests must be submitted in writing and received by UCLA Recreation by the dates listed below.

90%                                      16+ business days from the purchased session begins                

75%                                      11-15 business days before the purchased session begins 

50%                                      6-10 business days before the purchased session begins 

25%                                      5 business days before the purchased session begins 

No refund if request is made within 4 business days of the purchased session.  If UCLA Recreation cancels a program, a full refund will be issued.  

Camp fees paid by credit card will be credited within 5-7 business days upon approval by UCLA Recreation.  Refunds will be made only to the original payment card. In-person (cash or check) purchases and payroll deduction are not available for Winter 2024.   

DISMISSAL FROM CAMP  

There are times when the camp must dismiss a child due to psychological, emotional, or physical challenges or actions that preclude the child from participating safely or effectively in a group. If appropriate, this will result in a complete refund for the unused days. If a camper is dismissed for disciplinary reasons, there will be NO REFUND for the unused days.  

ABSENCES & SHORT-TERM ILLNESS  

Refunds are not available for vacations, special events, short-term illnesses of four or fewer days or other personal commitments that prevent attendance.  

EXTENDED ILLNESS  

A partial refund may be available for COVID-related or extended illness of three or more consecutive program days. Documentation (a doctor's note, test result, etc) and written note from the parent or guardian explaining the situation must be received within eight working days from the first day of absence. Upon review, participants may receive a prorated refund for the unused days minus a $50 processing fee.

WAITLIST PROCEDURE  

If your child is on the waitlist and a spot opens, you will be contacted by email. If you do not respond within 24 hours, your child’s spot is no longer guaranteed.
